It has been five years since I last posted on this site, and it is with very great pleasure that I add this postscript to my experiences. I was asked to write an article about my experiences for the IAU's Communicating Astronomy with the Public Journal, and I encourage you to take read it here:

Summer 2010
Back in November 2008, I was sitting in a cafe in Udaipur, India wondering what to do with my life. I wanted to act and to travel, I wanted to indulge my passion for science communication and astronomy, having worked and loved my time at Birmingham's Thinktank planetarium. I wanted to meet new people from all over the world.
It was then I came up with the idea of the Astrotour, travelling around North America for a year visiting every planetarium I could. Budget and visa restraints have led me to do it only for four months, but I hope to see as much and review as much as I can, because this is what I enjoy. I want to experience the best in science communication, see the techniques used and then share the best bits with whoever wants them.
I am an independent traveller, I earn nothing from this and am couchsurfing my way around to reduce costs and meet new people. If you would like me to come, drop me a line with details of where you are and how to get to you via public transport!
